Rounding off a breakthrough year dominated in certain quarters by his springtime debut Telo, Gage returns to deliver a heart-stopping new single with ballroom icon Kevin Jz Prodigy.
“This is nasty. Can’t wait to get it back to Vogue Knights” – MikeQ (NYC)
“Literally banging my head against the wall” – Sinjin Hawke (Barcelona)
“Damn this is crazy… doing death drops in my kitchen” – Rabit (Houston)
“Was dying to get my hands on it! So good” – Rizzla (NYC)
“400% Paris Ballroom Scene-approved” – Teki Latex (Paris)
A legendary vogue performer, ball commentator and recording artist in his own right, Kevin Jz Prodigy has been at the heart of the flamboyant East Coast ballroom scene for over a decade. As pioneering producers like Vjuan Allure, MikeQ and Divoli S’vere have crafted the raw, driving beats that soundtrack the modern day ball, Kevin’s wild, impossibly high-energy vocal style has become synonymous with the culture.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Gage’s time in the spotlight has been short but dramatic – his rough, propulsive sound quickly winning support from the likes of Untold, Mumdance, Feadz, Mickey Pearce and Melé. With a fiercely unique style that sits at a precipitous intersection between grime, techno and ballroom, he’s quickly established himself as a standout player in a thriving UK underground.
This collaboration is the sound of musical worlds colliding – an unlikely but explosive meeting of minds and a pertinent symbol of disparate cultures finding common ground through music. It’s already enjoying support from within the ballroom scene and across Europe and the USA.
All the tracks are great but Stepper is the standout for me! pounding syncopated kicks, rolling handdrums and playful sample work, dancefloor destroyer. Jack G.
